Event Details

Key European states, including the European Union (EU), have tabled Indo-Pacific Strategies. Despite the return of war to Europe, via Russia's attack on Ukraine, major European actors have maintained their strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific. Two key European players – the EU and NATO – have indicated plans for increased presence and engagement in the Indo-Pacific.

In this lecture, Commander Sascha Schwarzer will describe NATO and the EU as security institutions, illuminating their key interests in the Indo-Pacific. He will delve into the current challenges, as viewed from Europe, in the Indo-Pacific military domain and outline the reasons why NATO and the EU are increasingly looking to the Indo-Pacific.
