Ambassador Pablo Anselmo Tettamanti is currently serving as Secretary for Foreign Affairs since December 2019. He was Argentine Ambassador to the Russian Federation from 2014 to 2017 and also served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Argentine Embassy to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (1998-2006). He has also served in the Argentine Embassy to the United States of America (1991-1997), as well at the Permanent Mission to the UN (1980-1989). A career member of the Foreign Service, he held positions as Director of International Organizations and Director General of the Bureau for Nuclear and Disarmament Issues. Amb. Tettamanti also served at the G20 Argentine Presidency; the General Directorate for Malvinas and the South Atlantic; the Legal Counsel Office; and the Economic Department for Regional Organizations. He obtained his law degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (U.B.A.) in 1977 having also studied law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (1972-1972). He followed Ph.D. studies at U.B.A. from 1981 to 1982. He was admitted to the Instituto del Servicio Exterior de la Nación (Argentine Foreign Service Academy) in 1979 and graduated suma cum laude in 1980. He has published a number of papers and articles on international relations, and the book “The use of force in international conflicts. A final study of bipolarity” (El uso de la fuerza en los conflictos internacionales. Un estudio al final del bipolarismo) Editorial Universidad, 1995. At the University of Buenos Aires he was awarded the position of assistant professor in 1991, and was associate professor of International Law in 1981-1982 and 1990-1991. He was visiting professor on international organizations at Universidad Di Tella, 2008. He is fluent in English and French. He has knowledge of Italian, Russian and German. Amb. Tettamanti was born in 1953. He is married, with three children.
